Education Code of Practice

Skillsec has agreed to observe and be bound by the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021, also referred to ‘The Code of Practice’ which is administered by the Minister of Education and published on the NZQA website.

The purpose of the Code of Practice requires providers to:

  1. Take all reasonable steps to maintain the wellbeing of domestic tertiary students and to protect international students.

  2. Ensure as far as possible that domestic tertiary students and all international students have a positive experience that supports their educational achievement.

The Code of Practice requires that providers make available ways to have your say and that we listen, understand and respond to learner voice in a way that upholds student mana. The Code of Practice also has a process for learners to follow if they wish to make a complaint about the treatment of their education provider.

Please ask at the office if you would like to see Skillsec’s self-review of the Code of Practice carried out and implemented in 2022 - 2023.
