Certificate in Building, Construction and Allied Trade Skills - Level 3

The building and construction industry needs skilled and qualified workers. If you are starting out - our level 3 programme will give you hands on, practical experience building a bach before you enter the industry.

Entry Requirements

It is Skillsec’s expectation that a learner who applies for a place on this programme will:

Be a domestic learner and 16 years of age and older
Hold the New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction and Allied Trades (Level 2) or equivalent skills and knowledge
Have 10 credits at level 1 in each of numeracy and literacy OR at or above step 3 reading and at or above step 4 numeracy on the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool (LNAAT)
Participate in the interview process and the orientation process
Be fit and able to cope with the physical and mental demands of a building/construction environment

This programme is designed to build skills and understanding of the construction industry. You will also grow your literacy, numeracy and communication skills, try out work placements and develop your employability skills to make you more attractive to any potential employer.

At the successful completion of this programme graduates will be able to:

Perform construction tasks and undertake a building project under limited supervision within our training environment
Follow safe work practices
Use and maintain tools, equipment and machinery commonly used on building projects
Communicate and work collaboratively on a building project
Measure and calculate materials commonly used on building projects
Develop and use your own project documentation
Incorporate other trades into a building project
